INTERACT partner organises Arctic Field Summer School
During this first Norwegian Field School, organised by University of Tromso (UiT) - the Arctic University of Norway, students will participate in a remote sensing and ship-based field school at Svalbard and Tromso.
This is the first field-school of the International Partnerships for Excellent Education and Research (INTPART) and is titled, "Arctic Field Summer Schools: Norway-Canada-USA collaboration".
The course, taking place 15 May-2 June 2017, is divided in two closely related segments, starting with a one-week field course on board the research vessel Lance to the marginal
ice zone in and around Svalbard, where the participating students willreceive introductory lectures and collect in-situ and remote sensing data to be analyzed in the subsequent segment.
The second week will take place at the Centre for Integrated Remote Sensing and Forecasting for Arctic Operations (CIRFA) at UiT-the Arctic University of Norway. This part of the course will cover analysis of data collected in the field and additional archived data.
This field course is only open to U.S.-based graduate students enrolled at U.S. universities.
Application deadline: Monday, 20 March 2017.
